Why Each Piece Is Different

This is not a standard sweatshirt with artwork printed onto its surface. Each Kundavai by Chella piece is fully jacquard knitted, allowing the design to become part of the garment itself.

Individual yarns form the colours, motifs, collar, cuffs, and hem as the garment is produced. This creates a richly textured surface and means the artwork will not crack or peel like a conventional print.

The cotton contributes softness and breathability, while polyester supports durability, colour retention, and shape. Together, they create a smooth knit designed for comfortable layering and repeated wear.

The 450 g/m² construction gives the garment substance without the bulky fleece interior of a conventional sweatshirt. Its knitted structure provides texture, movement, and a more refined finish.

Design and Intention

Each colour relationship and motif placement is composed specifically for the garment. Jacquard knitting uses up to four yarn colours to translate the artwork into the fabric, giving the design a physical depth that cannot be achieved through surface printing alone.

The underlying silhouette follows our production partner’s established unisex construction, while the visual composition, motifs, cultural narrative, and colour direction are created by Kundavai by Chella.

Every piece is produced on demand rather than held as mass inventory. The result is a garment that brings together original heritage-led design, specialised knitted construction, and considered production.

Made to Remain

Because the design is knitted into the garment, it is not expected to crack or peel. With appropriate care, the stitch pattern, colour, and shape are designed to remain part of the piece through repeated wear.

Machine wash on a cold or cool gentle cycle, using mild detergent. Do not bleach or tumble dry. Reshape while damp and dry flat.Craft & Materials

Care Instructions

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your knitwear, we recommend the following care:

• Machine wash at 30–40°C on a gentle cycle.

• Wash inside out with similar colours.

• Use a mild detergent.

• Do not bleach.

• Do not tumble dry.

• Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry.

• Iron on a low setting if needed. Avoid ironing directly over decorative knit areas.

• Do not dry clean unless professionally recommended.

With proper care, your knitwear will maintain its softness, shape, and rich colour for years to come.

Each Kundavai by Chella™ garment is knitted especially for you after your order is placed. This made-to-order approach allows us to minimise waste while creating garments with intention rather than excess.

Because every piece is individually produced, slight colour variations between digital images and the finished garment are normal and reflect the unique nature of jacquard knitting.
